DU DE

July 25, 2009

When in China, we visited Yeminama (senior advisor to the orphan organisation in Fugong) and her church twice. There is a blackboard in front and next to it were some words in Lisu. I just glanced over them and took a double look – It said DU DE!!! Hahaha it tickled me much. I nudged Sam to show her and later whispered to Jingzhong and Rison my wonderful find. Begged Jingzhong to take a picture after worship was over and here it is.

DUUUUUUUUUUDE.

Cute Kids in China

July 25, 2009

I’m sorry, the picture with me isn’t half as nice. So here’s Jingzhong with the kids.

I love her skirt! Isn’t she cute?

She and her grandfather climbed up to the church with us. Her grandfather let her go to give the rest of our team a hand up. Fen and I were watching her and she started walking really near the edge of the road which was literally an edge, if she fell she would fall all the way down.

So I’m thinking, she’s probably got better balance than me! But just in case, we followed her and tried to tell her not to walk so close to the edge. In the end we just scared her and she kept running away and away from us and we ran after her trying to grab and get her away from the edge and in the end she fell in middle of the road in the sand and all the villagers watching laughed at us because we were so silly.

Gah. I felt bad for inadvertently making his granddaughter fall down but her granddad just grinned at us, picked her up and dusted her off.

Great first impression! Hahaha.

Breakfast at Borders

July 25, 2009

I do not like poached eggs. Scrambled ftw. Plus poached has such a negative connotation, why would you want to think of animals being killed illegally when you’re eating your eggs? (Was talking to Charis about this and sorry it is all very shallow. Bunnies are cute, chickens are not plus chickens are yummy) The food was not bad, I had jam on toast for the first time in a LOOONG time. I used to eat that as a kid in Australia, oh what feelings of nostalgia! I kept one piece of bacon for last so that it’d be the last taste in my mouth.

Boy was I wrong! We forgot there were fruits and coffee / tea too. UGH. I believe all meals should end on a savoury note. I don’t like sweet things much. But I had to finish my fruits and tea because if not it’d be wasting food! Next time I’m keeping that piece of bacon till the end. Actually, I’d much prefer it if they served the tea and fruits first.

Do you do that? Like keep one thing you really like for last so that it is the last taste that lingers in your mouth?

Sometimes I have to pay attention and protect it if not Jingzhong will steal it. Okay fine, I don’t think he’ll steal it because he just pretends to but never does and we all know he is strong and sly enough to overpower me and just take my bacon my chicken wing my french fry my chicken mcnugget. Actually he gives me his bacon even when he really wants to eat it.

Heeheehee.

Good thing JZ doesn’t like soup. Or cheese.

To The Best Parents!

July 25, 2009

Happy birthday Mom and Dad!!!

I look super tired because I AM.

A huge bunch of us had dinner last Sunday to celebrate my parents birthdays – 19th July for dad and 27th July for mom. It was yummy. Uncle Kee Ming ordered loads of dishes, thank goodness we had Glenn, Bryan and Jonovan to help us finish everything. Nicholas didn’t even turn up to help, that pilot. Too busy going commando I guess.

Afterwards we convinced the drinks stall owners to change the channel from 8 to 5 so we could watch Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Then I asked them if they could make it louder. Hahahha I bet they hate me. But I got to enjoy Harry Potter so it’s okay!

Will definitely miss these gatherings and dinners when I’m gone.
