In Uzbekistan, you are supposed to change money at the banks because they will give you a receipt. If the police stop you and see you have Som, you have to show them your bank receipt. The exchange rate in banks is about US1=1200SOM.
The exchange rate on the black market is about US1=1800SOM. You just don’t get a receipt.
